I'm so happy that my flight was delayed. We decided to go get brunch at Taste kitchen + Bar instead of waiting around at the airport. Best decision ever! The food was so delicious. Top tier food, service and drinks. The place was a vibe on a Monday morning. Rnb music was playing and both downstairs and upstairs was pretty full. We made reservations on our way there and was seated right away,a party of 5. We parked across the street in a paid parking lot. There is also a train stop right in front of the restaurant. If your in the Houston area I highly recommend that you stop at Taste kitchen+bar.
Brandin was the sweetest and cutest server ever! The manager checked on me as I waited. The cheese grits were perfect 🤤 but that whiskey butter cake, served warm was TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!! I traveled back home to Baltimore with it and enjoyed the rest the next day. I'm going to need that shipped to me! My God!
We arrived a bit early for our reservation however, they were very accommodating and able to see us earlier. The environment is loud but unique and has a really fun vibe. The cocktails are amazing! We started our dinner with deep fried cauliflower, smothered chicken with red velvet waffles, cajun fried chicken with regular waffles and a side of Gouda mac & cheese. The chicken was very well prepared and amazingly moist. All of the flavors were complementary and delicious. The Red Velvet waffles are to die for. Our server, Diamond was incredibly thoughtful, attentive, and helped us navigate the menu as first time patrons. This was our first time to Houston and first time experiencing chicken and waffles, but not the last.
Our first time visiting Houston and Taste Kitchen. All the food was good and had a lot of flavor . The service was good . We went on a Sat around 4 pm . They didn’t let us reserve a table ahead of time when we called in . So it was 45 min wait for a table and then another 20 min before the waiter came to our table . We will definitely visit again if we in town
Man this place was so good! I loved everything on my plate. The atmosphere is trendy and it’s lowkey a whole vibe! The music wasn’t too loud and the flavor profile of the food was outstanding. Our server was Akila and I could write a book! She was so personable and attentive. She didn’t miss a beat! She engaged with us and made us feel so welcomed. She answered every question and really just I took care of us! The only thing we hated was that it was our final day in Houston. However, we’ve already decided that place will be a staple for us anytime we come. Omg I’m so stuffed! Whew
The atmosphere a.d the door waa great. The birthday celebration 5 layer rainbow cake was awesome. I didn't know they added gratuity to 5 person table so I left cash on the table and paid the bill. Later noticed a $49+ gratuity tip on the receipt. I was a lil jealous and wanted my cash back, lol. But the waitress waa amazing. Ran into a few famous Utubers since it waa DreamCon weekend. 2 snaps up
Pros: Food was amazing. The waiter recommended fried catfish and blackened shrimp over dirty rice.... amazing!! My entire party loved their food. Drinks were really good and they have such a variety. Vibe was live. Good musics playing but not overbearing. Multiple tvs if you wanted a distraction while you ate. Cons: Bathrooms could use some love. Loved it! We will be back!!

I never leave a review!! This place has my business.. I am newer to Houston and a friend came to visit for my birthday . I am soooo glad we went to this spot. Let me first say that our server Jeff gave the entire rundown on the menu🔥 had us ready to try every thing available😂 we ordered 2 jerk lamb chops and 2 original as appetizers during happy hour🤤 and baby I coulda got up and kissed the cook.. jerk 10/10 original 9.5/10 they were so flavorful and tender all the way through... my friend literally debated ordering more to take with her😭... the frozen watermelon dusse was great and I only needed 1 drink🍹 and it was good all the way gone 10/10 . The oxtails, Smothered chicken, Mac n cheese,and yams taste like the ansestors were partying in the kitchen and were all 10/10💋💋 the cornbread taste like a mix of cornbread and hot water cornbread it was about 8/10 for me but I will try the biscuit next time.. The vibe was great! Good music!! Wonderful staff!! The price was right.. Top Notch Server..Very filling portions... I will be back... Really great time for my first time at the restaurant!! I wasn't a fan of the gumbo. It didn't have a good flavor. I had the fried catfish sandwich with fried okra as my meal. This entree completely made up for the gumbo. The bun was soft, veggies fresh, catfish flaky, tartar sauce great!!! The fried okra was chef's kiss. It was well seasoned and the texture was perfect. I had a mocktail (can't remember the name) that was a mix of ginger beer, mango, and lime to go with the food. The drink was cute and refreshing! The whole experience was a 10/10. I will definitely come back to enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere!!!
